Super B Turbo Kit
Designed in a joint engineering effort between BD Diesel Performance and Borg Warner Turbo Systemsí AirWerks program, these new turbo systems for the 5.9 liter Cummins engine flow enough air for racing applications, yet are responsive and durable enough for street and heavy towing applications. Plus, theyíre backed by a one year factory warranty!*
Turbocharger lag is usually the result of an improperly matched turbocharger. As the compressor wheel size is increased to meet the airflow requirements of the engine, it gets heavier, which hurts response time. BDís turbo systems, using Borg Warnersí unique Extended Tip compressor wheel technology and low inertia, full-floating journal bearings, outperforms ball bearing turbochargers of a similar size.
Our unique dual-volute turbine housing picks up low rpm exhaust pulses for improved turbine response, while the dual-action waste gate bleeds off turbine drive pressure from both volutes. BDís turbo systems also feature a heavy-duty waste gate actuator that prevents pre-mature opening caused by high exhaust pressure. You can even fine-tune your BD/AirWerks turbo for ambient temperature and barametric pressure changes using BDís adjustable waste gate control.
Put simply, youíll get more power, quicker response, cooler EGTís and lower exhaust emissions with a BD/AirWerks turbocharger! And, youíll have the added benefit of proven journal bearing technology--the very same used in 99% of the turbochargers produced in the world since 1921.
SINGLE TURBO SYSTEMS
All of BDís single turbo systems are designed for easy, bolt-on replacement.
Super B Single: Designed for í94-Ď06 applications, the Super B Single supports modified applications making up to 425 rwhp. The Super B single offers quick spool-up, cooler EGTís and no surging. Itís ideal for street, towing and mild competition applications, and can easily be upgraded to a twin system for even more power.
Super B Special: Perfect for Dodge Cummins competitors in single turbo, diesel-only classes pushing 525 rwhp! Add the larger BD Cool-It intercooler and a shot of nitrous oxide, and the Special will produce even higher power levels with fuel system upgrades, nitrous oxide, water/methonal kits
TWIN TURBO SYSTEMS
Super B Twin: Designed for high-powered í94-Ď06 5.9 liter Cummins applications without cylinder head modifications, the Super B twin can easily flow enough air for up to 575 rwhp on diesel only. Add a BD Cool-It intercooler and a shot of nitrous oxide, and watch the power level climb to 800+! Great street and strip driveability, easy installation, and the factory oil coolers can be retained.
1989-1993 Cummins 5.9 engines have a variety of large turbine housings that all result in a large turbo lag before boost is developed. The above years will benefit by changing to a 16 sq cm housing to a non-waste gated turbine housing part #1045910 on stock or engines that have had high flow injectors installed
1994-1999 stock engines have the 12 sq cm w/g hsg that can be quite restrictive when the power is increased above 300 flywheel HP and results in high exhaust temperature.
2001 automatic transmission equipped engines have a 9 or 10 sq cm hsg that is too restrictive for a high power increase (beyond the 300 hp)
2003 and 04 Super B kits include an adapter so the turbo mount exhaust brake can bolt up; later models require a remote mount exhaust brake. 2003-04 Engines that have any more than a 100 hp increase will cause the stock turbo to over speed, surge and fail.
The ultimate ďbolt-onĒ for the Dodge Ram! BDís Super B Twin Turbo kits for the Dodge 5.9 liter Cummins engine can develop between 350 to 700 rear wheel horsepower (rwhp) with adequate fueling (diesel only) while remaining responsive and durable enough for street and towing applications. Not only do these kits deliver impressive horsepower and torque increases, they look great and sound incredible!
BDís Super B Twin kit features a pair of stage-compounded AirWerks S300 turbochargers equiped with extended tip compressor wheels to keep air flow high, and exhaust gas temperature (EGT) low. The kitís high-pressure turbo provides quick, low-rpm response, which is then compounded by the low-pressure turbo for a broad power curve across the engineís rpm range.
Plus, the high-pressure dual volute waste gated turbo in this kit is the same used in the Super B Single kit, making it easy to step up to twin-turbo power when youíre ready.
For competition applications, even higher horsepower (675 plus) and boost pressure (100 psi) can be obtained-- however a lot of fuel and a shot of nitrous to overcome the inefficiencies of the stock intercooler. 2003-current trucks can also benefit from BDís new Cool-It intercooler; applications for earlier trucks are currently in the works.
The Super B Twin kit comes complete with a stainless steel X-Intake, flow-matched exhaust and intake piping and all necessary heat shieldsóplus, í03-06 applications come with our new three-piece Pulse exhaust manifold. Installation allows for the stock oil cooler to be left in its place.
